María Dolores Cota y Verdugo was born January 5, 1782, at Mission San Gabriel, Alta California, New Spain, where she was baptized on January 6 (SG Baptism 00774). She was the daughter of soldado Roque Cota y León and Juana María Verdugo y Carrillo. María married (1) soldado Manuel Sepúlveda y Redondo, and after his death she married (2) Francisco Juárez. María died at San José, Alta California, México, and was buried in the Mission Santa Clara cemetery on March 8, 1845 (SCL Death 07879).
