Barbara Jean Alsup, 63, of Valley Mills, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 4, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby, under the direction of Foss Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Barbara was born in Lubbock, Texas, to the late J.W. and Maurine (McKneely) Hamilton. She married Donald Alsup in 1987 in Lubbock. Barbara formerly worked as a deputy sheriff in Lubbock and was formerly a beautician in Valley Mills. She had moved to Valley Mills in 2001.
She was preceded in death by daughters, Melody Johnson and Lou Ellen Lassiter.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas Alsup; sons, John Thomas Harrell, of North Carolina, and Grayson Harrell, of Oglesby; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie Hamilton and wife, Crystal, of Abernathy; sisters, Jana Cheney and husband, James, of Tyler, and Elaine Lott and husband, David, of Kansas; and many other family members and friends.
