Services for Maurine Hamilton, 75, of Abernathy will be at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Revs. Syl Moore, Mike Wilcox and Aubrey Howell officiating.
Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home.
Hamilton died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center.
She was born May 6, 1923, in Lubbock. She married J.W. Hamilton on April 24, 1943, in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1993. She had lived in the Abernathy area for the past 57 years. She was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church and had been a past member of the Abernathy Study Club and the New Deal Home Demonstration Club.
One son, Johnny Hamilton, preceded her in death April 5, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie Hamilton of Abernathy; three daughters, Barbara Alsup of Waco, Janna Carter of Tyler and Elaine Lott of Garden City, Kan.; a brother, R.G. "Bus" McNeely of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Oleta Greenhill, Glee Showalter and Jean Utley, all of Lubbock, and Joy Yarbrough of Waco.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, National Arthritis Association or the First Baptist Church in Abernathy.
