Sarah Jane Bailey was born in Prestonburg, Floyd Co. KY to Hugh S. Bailey and Margaret Helms Bailey. She married Ebenezer Brewster in Tazewell County Virginia. Sarah Jane and Ebezezer left Tazewell Co. Virginia in about 1881 and first went to Arkansas. By 1890 they were in Ottawa County, Oklahoma. (source Berdine Yost)


The marriage records recorded in "Annals of Tazewell Co VA" say that Ebenezer Brewster and Sarah J. (Bailey) Griffitts were married 15 November 1865. They were widow and widower. Sarah first being married (Feb 25, 1858 )in Virginia to Allen P. Griffitts (Griffith). Alan died during the war.


Sarah had a son Jacob A Griffith (born about 1863) with her first husband Alan P. Griffith (Griffits). Sarah and Alan were married. Alan was killed in the war and she later married his commanding officer Ebenezer Brewster. The 1880 US Census showed Jacob living with his grandfather Hugh Bailey in Tazewell County Virginia.


Sarah Jane was living with her daughter Margaret and son-in-law Garland Yost and their family in Ottawa County OK when she died.


The children of Sarah Jane and Ebenezer were:

Albert Herbert "Hub" - born December 15, 1866; died August 31, 1905

Mary Margaret - born November 1869; died 1946

Thomas Harvey "T. H." - born November 14, 1871; died November 14, 1946

Edward - born July 29, 1876; died 1956
