Eliza was the second child of Rudolph Neff Buckius (1788-1857) and Rebecca McGinnis Buckius (1798-1861).

She married William York Kester about 1854 in Frankford, Philadelphia PA.

They were the parents of 10 children:
Rudolph Kester (1855-1908), Frank Kester (1857-1865), Annie Kester Brown (1859-1929),Gus Kester (1861-1931), James Kester (1864-1939),Bertha Kester Saville (1865-1935), Isabelle Kester Knighton (1867- 1933), William Kester (1872-1928), Sarah Kester Fitzgerald (1873-1949), Harry B. Kester (1876-1955).
