A FAMILY CELEBRATION AT C. S. GARTIN HOME
Sunday, April 14, marked the 50th wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Gartin, Seneca. In observance of the occasion, a basket dinner was held at the home here with relatives present. Mr. Gartin's 81st birthday is today, so the celebration was of double importance. Mrs. Gartin is 69.

Charles S. Gartin, born in Gower, Mo., and Bessie Seaton, whose birthplace was Stewartsville, Mo., were married April 14, 1896 at St. Joseph, Mo. The wedding took place at the home of Mrs. Gartin's brother, M. W. Seaton. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Gartin established a home on a farm near Gower. They moved to a farm near Clinton, Mo., in 1907 and remained there mime years. In 1916 the family moved to Seneca and for 19 years Mr. Gartin was employed by the Grand Island Railway Co.

There were four children born to this fine couple, and all but one were present to assist their parents in the celebration yesterday. The eldest son, Monte E. Gartin, Glendale, Calif., and his wife were unable to come. The daughter, Mrs. Lavina Walker, Seneca, and two younger sons, Floyd S. of Omaha and his family and Clyde and his wife from Quincy, Ill., joined their parents in the observance. There are four grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Gartin are of pioneer stock, the type that puts the needs and pleasures of their family above all else. They are quiet, unassuming people, whose interests have always been centered in their home. Mrs. Gartin has taken part in the activity of the Methodist church and has been a member of Loyal Esthers for several years. Since his retirement from the railroad, Mr. Gartin has spent his time working around his home and raising a beautiful garden.

In addition to their daughter and two sons, the golden wedding couple was happy to have Mrs. Gartin's sister, Mrs. J. L. Kirkpatrick, Meeker, Colo., her brother, M. W. Seaton and his wife, Oskaloosa, Ia., Mr. Gartin's sister, Mrs. C. H. LaFollette and her husband from St. Joseph, Mo., here for the occasion. (There was a long list of others there for the celebration.)
