James Arvin Barksdale, 69, of Denton passed away Tuesday morning, March 8, 2011, at a Denton hospital. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Tim Epting officiating. Interment: Sweetwater Cemetery in Wise County. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at DeBerry Funeral Directors.

He was born in Justin to Arthur Dean and Esther Bernard Barksdale. He graduated from Northwest High School and married Calvia Stegall on Nov. 9, 1957, in Justin. He was the owner of Roto-Rooter plumbing company and an active member of Denton Country Club. Preceding him in death were five brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

Survivors: Wife, Calvia Barksdale of Denton; sons, Doyle Ray Barksdale and wife, Amanda, of Krum, James Craig Barksdale of Denton and Jeffery Blake Barksdale and wife Lori of Justin; sister, Deloris Long of Azle; brother, Henry Emmitt Barksdale of Amarillo; grandchildren, Jordan, Bo, Cody, Lauren, Dustin, Cooper and Hayden; and great-grandchild, Carson.

He graduated from Northwest High School and married Calvia Stegall on November 9, 1957 in Justin. He was the owner of Roto-Rooter plumbing company and an active member of Denton Country Club.

The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm for visitation. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 2 pm in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Tim Epting officiating. Burial will be at the Sweetwater Cemetery in Wise County.

He is survived by his wife, Calvia Barksdale of Denton; 3 sons, Doyle Ray Barksdale and wife, Amanda of Krum, James Craig Barksdale of Denton, Jeffery Blake Barksdale and wife, Lori of Justin; sister, Deloris Long of Azle; brother, Henry Emmitt Barksdale of Amarillo, 7 grandchildren, Jordan, Bo, Cody, Lauren, Dustin, Cooper, Hayden and 1 great-grandchild, Carson.
