Funeral for Floyd Barksdale, 68, of Justin was held Sept. 13, at the First Baptist Church of Justin. Burial followed at Justin Cemetery.
Barksdale died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, in Denton.
Born Dec. 26, 1933, to Arthur Dean and Esther S. Barnard Barksdale in Justin, he graduated from Northwest High School and attended Arlington State College, now the University of Texas at Arlington. He served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, and he married Peggy Ann Long Oct. 13, 1956, in Yuma, Ariz. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Scottish Rite, Shriners and Veterans of Foriegn Wars. He was a past member of the Northwest School Board and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a retired, self-employed plumbing salesman.
He is survived by his wife Peggy Ann Barksdale of Justin; a daughter Chelia Demmitt of Bridgeport; two sons, Gayland Barksdale of Alexandria, Va., and Arnie Barksdale of Justin; two sisters, Moline Whittington of Justin and Deloris Long of Azle; five brothers, Dean Barksdale of Fort Worth, Emmitt Barksdale of Amarillo, Melvin Barksdale of Fort Worth, Lloyd Barksdale of Justin and James Barksdale of Denton and four grandchildren, Shannon, Kara and Clint Demmitt and Haylee Barksdale.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Justin Masonic Lodge Building Fund, P.O. Box 445, Justin, Texas, 76247.
