Melvin Gene Barksdale, 79, a loving father and papa, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2010. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Monday in Justin Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Melvin was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Amarillo. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was owner of Barksdale Cafe in the Rexall Drug Store in Fort Worth. Melvin was preceded in death by sons, Paul and Stephen Barksdale. Survivors: Sons, Danny and Jason Barksdale; daughter, Lela Barksdale; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
