He was born June 4, 1901, in Van Buren County, the son of William and Estella HUGHES NICHOLS. On Sept. 12, 1927, at Mt. Pleasant, he married Bertha Ellen CALHOUN who died Aug. 28, 1985.
Mr. NICHOLS was a retired farmer.
Surviving are four sons, Robert, Brighton; Lawrence, Yakima, Wash.; Ellis and William, both of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Mrs. Miles (Erma) GREEN, Panhandle, Texas; 26 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren.
His parents, two grandsons, two great-grandsons, five brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl Swigart, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate with interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his memory.
