Martin Rites On Wednesday

Mrs. Carl J. Martin who had served as head cook at the Fairfield Community high school for the past several years, died at 9 p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson county hospital. She had been seriously ill the past week.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Glasgow Methodist Church with the Rev. Lewis Lint officiating. Burial will be in the Glasgow cemetery.
Mrs. Martin spent most of her life in Jefferson county and had been employed at the high school for the past 13 years. She worked until Friday, May 14, when she became ill.
Delpha Olegha Martin, 56, was born Nov. 20, 1908, in Van Buren county, the daughter of William and Cynthia Hughes Nichols. She married to Carl J. Martin at Marshalltown on Jan. 24, 1931. The farm home is located 1 ½ miles southeast of Glasgow.
In addition to her husband she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Evelyn Gordy, Iowa City; Earl Martin, Davenport; Wayne Martin, Wilton Junction; Thomas Martin, Burlington; Mrs. Maxine Litton and Mrs. Carol Liblin, both of Fairfield.
Nine grandchildren also survive along with the following brothers and sisters; Almon Nichols, Los Angles; Edward Nichols, Des Moines; Hershel Nichols, Kahoka, Mo.; Clarence Nichols, Fairfield, Henry Nichols, Mt Pleasant; and Mrs. Freda Else, Lovingsworth, Kan.
She was preceded in death by three sisters.
