She was born September 22, 1891, in Van Buren County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Estella Hughes Nichols. She had lived in Van Buren County until 1928, then moved to Jefferson County. She had resided in Batavia since 1942.
She was married to Orin Cox December 23, 1917 in Fairfield. He survives. She was a member of the Mt. Sterling Methodist church.
Surviving beside her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Merle Heady, Ottumwa; and Mrs. Louis Wagaman, Des Moines; one son, Richard Cox Batavia, route 2; nine grandchildren, six brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by one sone, Dale in 1937, and also two sisters.
The body is at the Campbell funeral chapel in Batavia; interment in Center Chapel, Keosauqua, IA. Pallbearers: Russell Webb; Steve Berndt; Sanford Fetters; Theron Cochran; Ray Frescoln; A.B. Cline.
