In Memoriam
Reverdy G. Johnson, of Morseville
Mr. Reverdy Johnson departed this liefe on Thursday, September 7 1882, at the residence of his father, Mr. Samuel Johnson, of Morseville, Jo Daviess county, Illinois, at the early age of 18 years, 8 months and 9 days.
God has called away our loved one
From a world of sin and woe,
To the realms of the blessed
Where no sorrow he can know.
Yes, in younder lonely graveyard,
Rev's body is at rest.
Waiting for the resurrection summons
To assemble with the blest.
Weep not, sorrow-stricken sisters,
For the time will quickly come,
When your spirits will be welcomed
By him in our heavenly home.
Mother, brothers, loved ones, all,
Give your bruised hearts now to God,
He in mercy takes our dear ones,
Let us kiss the chastening rod.
Yes, a dear one has gone from our midst,
The voice we loves is stilled,
There is a vacant place at home
That never can be filled.
M.
