On 12/12/1822, in Tuscaloosa Co., AL, Allen married Lucinda Breazeale. This couple had 14 children.

Following Lucinda's death in 1862, Allen then married on 11/22/1864, to Mary L. West.

Suggested edit:
Mary died in 1865 and is buried in Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The inscription on her headstone reads, "Wife of Allan Humphries".

In February, 1867, Allen married for a third time to Rachael M. Smith.

Hargis of the University, states in part: "He was all that goes to make up a true man...being endowed with a naturally fine mind, and having a fondness for reading... had well defined ideas concerning social, religious, and national
questions. Being strictly honest and conscientious in all his business transactions, he commanded the confidence of the business men of his community. He leaves behind a rich heritage in a good name and honorable posterity."
