Mrs. Essie M. Tennant, 79, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Pine Bank R. D. 1, died Tuesday, November 23, 1976, in the home of her daughter, Helen Zehe of Cleveland.

She was born August 11, 1897, at Blacksville, W. Va., a daughter of Rufus and Angeline Knisley Rose. Her first husband, Lon Tennant, died in 1927. Her second husband, J. C. "Junior" Tennant, died in 1965.

Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Virgie Shaffer, Spraggs R. D. 1; Mrs. Helen Zehe and Mrs. Deloris Humphry, both of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Mary Fisher, Pine Bank R. D. 1; and Mrs. Youland Phillips, Beaver Falls; three sons: James Tennant, Mt. Morris, Albert Tennant, Cleveland, and Herbert Tennant, York; two sisters: Mrs. Mary Spitznogle and Mrs. Frances Masters, both of Mt. Morris; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers: Smith Rose, Blacksville, W. Va.; and John Rose, Waynesburg R. D. 3.

One daughter, three sons, two sisters, and four brothers are all deceased.
