Vergie S. Shaffer, 86, of Spraggs, Pa., died at her home.
She was born Feb. 21, 1916, at Blacksville, daughter of the late Lon Jasper and Essie M. Rose Tennant.
She is survived by two brothers and spouses, James N. and Mary Lee Tennant, of Mount Morris, Pa., Herbert and Geri Tennant, of Florida; two sisters and one spouse, Youlanda and Marion "Buck" White, of North Carolina, and Deloris Humphrey, of Cleveland, Ohio; two sons, Wayne and Dennis; a daughter, Denise; and three grandchildren, Steve, Lana and Jerri Lee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Berley "Berl" Shaffer, on June 8, 1973; a daughter, Naomi Hayes; four brothers, Lon Tennant Jr., Kermit Tennant, Kenneth Tennant and Albert Tennant; and three sisters, Betty Tennant, Helen Zehe, and Mary Fischer.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14 with Pastor Fred W. Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow in Blacksville Cemetery.
