Eloise Boardman, 89, of 1451 20th Ave., East
Moline, formerly of Hillsdale, died Tuesday,
April 10, 2001, at Illini Restorative Care,
Silvis.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Wildwood
Baptist Church, East Moline. Burial is in
Mount Maria Cemetery, Hillsdale. Visitation
is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gibson Funeral
Home, Port Byron. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to the Gideon Bible
Society.

Eloise Ropp was born June 7, 1911, in
Hillsdale, the daughter of Levi and Minni
Lantz Ropp. She graduated from Hillsdale
High School and attended Augustana College.
She married Richard Boardman Nov. 21, 1940,
at her church, Hillsdale Methodist Church.

Eloise worked as a secretary at Hitchcock
Sprinkler, Peoria, prior to her marriage.
Later she was a homemaker and worked part
time for the ASCS at Hillsdale Elevator,
worked at Golden Seed Co., Cordova,
and cleaned houses.

She had many friends on her egg route
throughout Silvis, East Moline and Moline.
Eloise enjoyed gardening, flowers, art,
sewing and crafts.

She was a former member of Bethel Baptist
Church, Heritage Wesleyan Church and
currently a member of Wildwood Baptist
Church. She also was a member of the Rock
Island County Home Extension and Gideon
Bible Society.

Survivors include her husband; son and
daughter-in-law, Al and Rita Boardman,
Hillsdale; grandchildren, Richard R. and
wife, Jill, Boardman, Lombard, Ill.,
Brenda Boardman, Austin, Texas, Ron
Boardman, Hillsdale, and Abby Boardman,
Hillsdale; a brother, Leslie Ropp, Peoria;
brother-in-law, Robert Boardman, Port
Byron; and many nieces and nephews. Eloise
was preceded in death by her parents;
brothers, Carl and Loren Ropp; and a
sister, Josephene Feaster, all of Hillsdale.
