Carl J. Ropp, 80, of rural Geneseo, died Sunday at Hammond Henry District Hospital, Geneseo. He was the former owner of Ropp Horse Farm and Museum, rural Geneseo. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dailey-Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. The Rev. Larry Olson, pastor of Hillsdale United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be In Mount Maria Cemetery, Hillsdale. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Opportunity Center, Moline, or Heritage 83, where his son is a resident. Mr. Ropp was born In Tremont. He married Dorothy Martin In June 1938 In Hillsdale. Ha was a life resident of rural Geneseo. He retired from farming and had been Involved In the experimental department at John Deere. He was a director of the former Hillsdale Community High School and served as commissioner on the Penny Slough drainage district. He was a member of the Hillsdale United Methodist Church; Senior Citizens Club and the Rock lsland Moose. Survivors Include his widow; three sons, Martin, Hillsdale, Lantz, rural Geneseo, and Walter, Moline; a daughter, Mrs. Donald Schaver, Erie; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Loren, Hillsdale, and Leslie, Mllledgevllle, and two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Feaster, and Mrs. Richard Boardman, both of Hillsdale.
