BAXTER: Funeral services for James Walter "Bud" Alcorn, 61, of Buffalo Valley will be held Sunday, October 6, at 2:00 p.m. in the Baxter chapel of Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home. Burial will be in Smellage Memory Gardens with full military honors.
Mr. Alcorn was dead on arrival at Cookeville General Hospital, Thursday, October 3, 1996.
A native of Putnam County, he was born October 25, 1934, to the late Lee and Ethel Huddleston Alcorn.
He was a retired Master Sgt. with 22 years of service in the Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. Mr. Alcorn was a member of the Baxter Civic Club, the District Commissioners of the Babe Ruth Baseball League and served on the board of the Putnam County Parks and Recreation. He was a member and president of the board at Buffalo Valley Community Center.
His family includes his wife, JoAnn DeJulio Alcorn of Buffalo Valley; four daughters, Kristina Alcorn of Troy, Mich., Rocky Wachovec of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Betty Jo Barnhart and Barbara Alcorn, both of Ravana, Ohio; one son, Jeffrey Alcorn of Knoxville; one sister, Roberta Moss of Ootewah; and four grandchildren, Shelly Durik, Stephine Barnhart and Catlyn and Alex Wachovec.
