News was received last week of the sudden death of J. R. Alcorn who resided in Chattanooga. He was the son of the late Lee Alcorn and Mrs. Alcorn. His body was returned to Cookeville for interment in City Cemetery on Saturday. Many friends and relatives from here were in Cookeville for the funeral which was held at the Church of God on Sparta Hwy., Saturday at 2:00.

Jack R. Alcorn, 40, 1410 Dover Lane, veteran of US Air Force WWII, died in a local hospital Tuesday morning. Mr. Alcorn was rep for the AW Products Co. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lola N. Alcorn; daughter, Miss Jacqueline Alcorn; 2 sons, Jerry Ronald and Harry Edward Alcorn, all of Chattanooga; mother, Mrs. Lee Alcorn, Pontiac, MI; 4 sisters, Miss Ruth Alcorn, Mrs. Roberta Moss, Charleston, SC, Mrs. Mary Bartlett, Romeo, MI, and Miss Katie Alcorn, Pontiac, MI; 2 brothers, James Walter Alcorn, USAF, Okinawa, and Allon B. Alcorn, US Navy, Guam.

Funeral arrangements to be announced. The body is at the J. Avery-Bryan Co.
