Jennie Daphna Burnett, 83, of Saulsbury, passed away Saturday morning, January 29, 2011 at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar.

The widow of George Harold Burnett, who died on October 13, 1980, after 37 years of marriage, she worked in the dietary department at Western Mental Health Institute. She was born March 5, 1927 in Hardeman County to the late Homer and Annie Hammons Webster and lived most of her life in Saulsbury. Mrs. Burnett was a very faithful member of the Rocky Springs Baptist Church and had been a resident of Pine Meadows in Bolivar for the past six years.

She leaves her daughter, Peggy Dowty and her husband, David, of Grand Junction; five sisters, Margie Lee Wheaton of Oklahoma, Juanita Rhoads of Bolivar, Annie Ballard and Mary Elizabeth Thornton, both of Middleton and Lucille Shelby of Grand Junction; two grandchildren, Pamela Dowty Lanier and her husband, Rodney; and Paul Dowty and his wife, Paula; and five great-grandchildren, Hayden, Baylee and Callee Lanier, Polly Dowty and Matthew Kirk.
