Gladys Juanita Rhoads, age 92 years, 3 months and 23 days, daughter of the late Homer and Annie Hammons Webster, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Pleasant View Healthcare in Bolivar, Tennessee. The widow of Hershel Rhoads, who preceded her in death in 1983, she served in the United States Navy WAVES from September 6, 1943 to June 9, 1945 and later in the United States Air Force as a telephone operator. She also worked as the switchboard operator at Western Mental Health Institute for three years. She was a member of the Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church in Riverside, California and returned to the Hardeman County area about five years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Bill) Skieth of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Carol Handran of Oklahoma; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four sisters, Margie Wheaton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Annie Ballard and Mary Thornton of Middleton and Lucille Shelby of Grand Junction. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria; a grandson, Michael; three sisters, Daphna Burnett, Clara Galloway and Laurine Jeanette Webster; five brothers, Ed, Alva, Tate, Leon and Homer Aubrey Webster; and her parents.
