DERIDDER — Funeral services for Alvin Hayes "Snooks" Alston, 59, of Longville will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in Hixson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kelly Harper will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley.
Mr. Alston died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the DeQuincy hospital. A native of Singer, he had lived in Longville 33 years. A veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II, and a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2130, he was a past member of Carpenters Local 953 of Lake Charles and had been employed by Dunham-Price.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virgie Alston; one daughter, Mrs. Donna Brown of Lake Charles; three brothers, Donald Alston of Alexandria, and Jack and Morrell Alston, both of Singer, and two sisters, Mrs. Bobbie Spivey and Mrs. Arlene Cornwell, both of DeRidder.
