Morrill Glenn Alston, Sr., 71 of Singer, LA entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in DeRidder, LA. Morrill was born in Singer, LA to the late Clayburn and Odie Miers Alston. He attended Singer High School and married Venita Doescher. Morrill worked for Jones Tractor in DeRidder and then worked for Brown & Root in Valliant, OK. He retired from Boise Cascade in July, 2007, after over 30 years as a mechanic and was a member of USW Union, Local 1226. Morrill was a cattleman and enjoyed taking care of his cattle, he loved telling stories, planting his garden and visiting with friends. He also enjoyed using his smokehouse. He was a true giving person and was a big supporter of the Singer Hornets. Morrill was a member of Singer Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of Singer, LA; daughter and husband of DeRidder, LA; son and wife of DeRidder, LA; sisters and one brother-in-law; brother and wife of Singer, LA; four grandchildren all of DeRidder, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayburn and Odie Miers Alston and brothers, Norris, Don and Alvin Alston.

A graveside service was held Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at Newlin Cemetery in Singer, LA. Rev. Jerome Hayes officiated.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to SouthernCare and DeRidder Retirement and Rehabilitation Center for their support in his final days


Services were under Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
