Howard L. Leckey, in his book, "The Tenmile Country and Its Pioneer Families," states that John Hyatt Virgin was born in Pennsylvania on April 9, 1798 to Eli Virgin and Nancy (otherwise known as "Nackey") Hyatt. Eli, unfortunately, for the sake of John, his Mother, and his other siblings, died on February 28, 1819 in Pennsylvania. His Mother, Nancy, remarried. Her second Husband was Colonel Henry Heaton, a man that was a widower. Eli's, Henry,'s, and Henry's first Wife, are buried in Virgin Cemetery. Oddly, Nancy no records, as of June 10, 2013, have been found to indicate that Nancy is buried in Virgin Cemetery.

According to the edited version of John's brother's autobiography, that is Senator Noah Hyatt Virgin's, John was married to Margaret Hughes on December 8, 1818. This marriage is also noted in the aforementioned work of Leckey.

It needs to be noted that sometime between the taking of the 1850 US Census and the date of his death in 1858, that John moved his family from Knox County, Ohio to Menard County, Illinois. The only sibling of John that moved to Illinois at this time was his Sister, Delinda Virgin, who married Joseph Raley and migrated to LaSalle, Illinois. Delinda died in 1869 and is buried in Raley Cemetery. John's other siblings migrated from the east (Ohio and Pennsylvania) to Wisconsin, it seems, if they moved west.

John Hyatt Virgin and Margaret Hughes had at least seven children together, the following of which, at this time, can be documented. Several of these children are buried in this cemetery.

1. ELI VIRGIN was born on 25 Jan 1821. Per Leckey's work, he died in July of 1856 in an accident. This is either wrong or a typographical error in the work, as his marker in this cemetery states that he died on July 29, 1858. Eli is buried at Indian Point Cemetery.

2. MARY VIRGIN was born in 1824 in Pennsylvania. She died, per Leckey's work, "young". It needs to be noted that Mary Virgin was alive at least until 1860 as she is shown living, with her Mother, in Menard County, Illinois in that year.

3. GEORGE W. VIRGIN was born on May 10, 1827. George married Eliza Ann Enslow on February 16, 1852. Eliza was born on December 18, 1837 and she died in 1852. George died on November 18, 1898 in Pekin, Illinois.

4. JOHN VIRGIN was born on September 16, 1830. George married twice during his life.

His first Wife was Mary Emily Gibbs, who he married on October 16, 1856 in Sangamon County, Illinois. Mary was born on April 28, 1838 and she died on December 31, 1891.

John's second Wife was Martha S. Conway (also known as "Mattie"). Martha and John married on June 20, 1895 in Sangamon County, Illinois. Martha was born in April of 1867 in Kentucky. John Virgin died on November 18, 1898 in Illinois. After John's death, Martha is shown living with John's biological children by his first Wife.

John, his first Wife, Mary, and their Daughter, Luella F. Virgin, are buried in Indian Point Cemetery.

5. MARIA VIRGIN (not to be confused with Mary, above) was born on February 10, 1834. She married Louis Bonnett, who was born about 1830 in Ohio. Maria died on March 17, 1890 in Lucas County, Iowa.

6. MARGARET RUTH VIRGIN, per her Census records, was born about 1836 in Ohio. Margaret married Jerome Egbert Davis. He was about about 1832 in New York. Margaret died on February 3, 1900.

7. NANCY VIRGIN was born in 1844 in Ohio.
