Winwood H. Baxter, 64, died Tuesday at Winn Army Hospital at Fort Stewart after a long illness. He was born in Long County and was a member of the Pigot Branch Baptist Church. He was a retired Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife, Myrt Baxter of Ludowici; two daughters, Brenda J. Baxter of Elizabethtown, KY., and Tammy Skinner of Louisville, Ky.; five sons, Butch Baxter of Abilene, Texas, Bobby Baxter of Glennville, Stacy, Joe, and Patrick Baxter, all of Ludowici; three step-daughters, Nancy Moody of Glennville, Pat Williams and Sharon Carr, both of Radcliff, Ky.; a step-son, Kenny Moon of Ludowici; four grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Pigot Branch Baptist Church, burial in church cemetery. Rimes Mortuary, Glennville in charge of arrangements.
