Forest H. Riese, 75, Monroe, died Friday, Aug. 25, 1995 at Pleasant View Nursing Home.

He was born May 15, 1920, in Albany, the son of Wrennie M. Riese and Anna Vollman.

He married Lydia Etter Nov. 30, 1941, in Monroe.

Mr. Riese entered the U.S. Army June 22, 1942 at Milwaukee. He served as a corporal with Company D. 377th Infantry. He was discharged Oct. 19, 1943 at Camp Polk, La.

He operated the Victory Tavern in Monroe and then owned and operated the Timbers Gulf Service Station for many years.

Mr. Riese was a Monroe fireman for 33 years, a part-time sheriff's deputy, and a member as well as past commander of the American Legion.

Surviving are four brothers, Chester Riese, Beloit, Roger Riese, Janesville, Elmer Riese, Morgan Hill, Calif., Alvin Riese, Monroe; three sisters, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Wolfe, Monroe, Mrs. Lloyd J. (Helen) Rufer, Monroe, Mrs. Roger (Mary) Coplien, Monroe, and a special friend, Hulda Pagel.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lydia, and two brothers, Roy Riese and Robert Riese.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Stuessy Funeral Home. Rev. Lowell Stuessy will officiate burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.

Relatives and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Stuessy Funeral Home.
