Funeral services were held in the Everson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, for Wrennie Martin Riese 68, who passed away Wednesday, the 21st, at his home in Sylvester township following a five month's illness.
He was born in Decatur township Nov. 11, 1882. The son of August and Ernestine Neek Riese. His marriage to Anna Vollman took place in Chicago on May 27, 1914. They have lived on the present farm the past two years.
Survivors include his wife; seven sons: Chester, Juda; Roy and Forrest, Monroe; Alvin, Elmer, Rodger and Robert, at home; three daughters: Mrs. Walter Kressin, Van Nuys, Calif., Mrs. Lloyd Rufer, Monroe, and Mary Ann, at home; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Herman, Unity, Wis., August, Brodhead, and William, Sauk Center, Minn.; two sisters: Mrs. Mary Pinnow, Brodhead and Mrs. Ida Hunt, California. One sister and one brother preceded him in death.
The Rev. Peter Retzlaff, Juda Evangelical United Brethren minister officiated at the services. Mrs. Mardelle Matzke sang, accompanied by Mrs. Esther Larson, organist. Pallbearers were Royal Liddicoat, Adolph Brunner, Lloyd Rufer, Walter Kressin, Jesse Morton, Fred Michaelis.
Interment was in Greenwood cemetery, Brodhead.
