Erma Margaret Crosby
Bloomingdale - Mrs. Erma Margaret Crosby Sikes, 83, went home to be with our Lord, Monday, February 24, 2003 after an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Preston Hughton Crosby. She was a native of Pembroke, graduated from Bryan County High School where she played on the ladies basketball team. She moved to Savannah in 1938 and then to Bloomingdale in 1958. She was employed briefly at Union Camp Corporation, but spent most of her life as a loving wife and mother. As a member of South Newington Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School, GAs, VBS, was an avid member of WMU and sang in the choir. She loved our Lord and her church family. Even when she was in the hospital, she shared the Gospel with others and was always a pillar of strength to her family.
She will be sadly missed by her surviving children, Janice N. Miller and Glen, Hughlon Raymond Crosby and Joyce, Sandra C. Eddington and John, Randall Stephen Crosby, Deborah Dianne West and Ricky, Rickey Paul Crosby and Tammy; 17 grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey P. Schyberg and Dr. Gifford Lorenz for their loving care of her over the last few years. She loved you both.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25 at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 26 at the South Newington Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Best, Rev. Robert Black, Rev. David Laughner, and Ricky West officiating.
Mrs. Sikes will lie in state at the church from 10-11 a.m.
Burial: Groveland Cemetery in Bryan County.
