Ralph (Kip) Wood, 92, of Ute Route, Nucla, died early Monday morning at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Montrose. A rancher and cattleman, he had lived in Nucla since he was eight years old.
Born March 24, 1879, at Panguitch, Utah, he moved with his family to Nucla in 1887. In early 1900, he drove a team and helped build the co-op ditch at Ute, where he had his homestead.
He married the former Jessie Spradlin at Nucla on April 1, 1938. She survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Magozstovics of Salt Lake City; a son, Albert of Delores; four sisters including Mrs. Noma Bennett of Nucla, Mrs. Eleanor Spradlin of Paradox and Mrs. Hilda Sharp of Cortez; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
