Jerry was the youngest son of Jeremiah D. Conwell and Christina Carruthers, born in a log house on his grandfather's farm. He married in Decatur, Ks., May 2, 1887, to Allie Farmer whom he knew from back home in Ohio. Jerry was a farmer for many years in Kansas and later in Oregon. He was the father of Glen Brady, Bertha Dale, Mary (May) C., Nola Pearl, Olin George, and Loyd Victor, who died as a baby. In March of 1918, Jerry suffered a stroke and then had a terrible accident on the day he died involving boiling water. His son, Olin, went for the doctor, but Jerry was dead by the time he got back. His monument only says "Conwell" - marking the family plot.
