Mrs. M. S. Clark.

Terressa Ann, the eldest daughter of Stephen and Hanna C. Elmor, was born in Putnam county, Indiana, June 14, 1854, and died at her home 618 Linden Avenue, Chariton, Iowa, March 8, 1923, at 3:00 o'clock a.m., at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 24 days.

She came with her parents to Clarke county in the fall of 1868 and located at Ottawa where she grew to Womanhood. When she was 17 yers old she was converted in a revival conducted by Rev. Martin of the Methodist Episcopal church at Ottawa. She remained a faithful and unfaltering servant of her Lord and Master for fifty-one years. She was loyal to her pledge of faith and reliance upon the exceeding great, and gracious promises. It was her joy to do service in the realm of the kingdom, and her life of labors of love with those with whom she associated and toiled is the enduring testimony of her Christian worth and devotion. At the time of her conversion she united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Ottawa, and continued in that communion until 1893, when she transferred her church membership to the Baptist church of East Concord and continued in that relationship until she was translated to the church triumphant.

On September 3, 1874, she was united in marriage to M. S. Clark, and to them were born six children, four sons and two daughters: J. E. and S. M. Clark of Clarke county; W. E. Clark, Mrs Berdie Patterson and Mrs. Lillian M. Marker, of Lucas county; Carl died when he was 14 years of age. Besides her companion and children she leaves one sister and three brothers, Mary A. Clark and A. L. Elmor of Woodburn; J. F. and D. G. Elmor, Stanley, New Mexico; two half brothers, O. N. Clark, of Wyoming, and I. N. Clark, Lucas, Iowa; one half sister, Mrs. Rilla Wolverton, LeRoy, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren and a host of friends who deeply feel the passing of Mrs. Clark.

In 1893 her husband entered the ministry and for thirty years she has born the responsibility of the pastor's wife, supporting by her sympathy, prayers and assistance, the service of her companion, faithful to all the duties and responsibilities that fall to the lot of a pastor's wife, always in accord and sympathy with the pastorate of her beloved companion. Her life was an abounding expression of her faith in the great head of the church and in the slosing scenes of her eventful life, found Him her sufficiency and left the comforting nd consoling testimony that death is not a sleep but a vail that ushers life into external day.

Sunday, a short service was held at her home, 618 Linden Ave., Chariton, Iowa, conducted by Rev. J. A. Pettie and Rev. E. W. Curtis at one o'clock. Servies concluded at the M. E. church in Woodburn, conducted by Rev. W. H. Larrick of Derby, Iowa, and Rev. Myrtle Wolfe of Woodburn, Iowa, both old time friends of the family, at 4 o'clock, followed by interment in the Woodburn cemetery.
