Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, Jan. 8th at Sunne Lutheran Church of rural Wilton with Pastor Paul Schauer officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date at Sunne Lutheran Cemetery
Visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM Saturday at the church.
Vernon was born Dec. 9, 1936 in Garrison, ND to Robert O. & Hilda (Drefs) Bucholz. He was raised on a farm in northern Burleigh County and attended rural school. Vern graduated from Wilton High School in 1954. He married Mavis Reiser on June 29, 1957 in McClusky. They resided in McClusky for two years before moving to the family farm northwest of Regan, ND. Together they raised two sons, Steven & James. Vern farmed for 40 years and sold the farm in 1996 at which time he moved to Bismarck. He was employed as a fieldman for the ASCS (Soil Conservation) office in Bismarck for 38 years. Vern graduated from the Auctioneers School of Iowa and auctioneered in the area for many years. In 2008, he was inducted into the North Dakota Auctioneers Hall of Fame.
He is survived by two sons, Steven (Donna) Buchholz of Bowman, ND, & James Buchholz of Washington, DC; three grandchildren, Shawn, Adam, & Kyle; his former wife, Mavis Bucholz of Bismarck; one sister, Adeline Jennings of Underwood; & one brother, Jerry (Ann) Bucholz of Regan.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Melvin & Marlin), & two sisters-in-law (Ella & Lois).
