Adeline was born August 28, 1924 in rural Max, ND to Robert and Hilda (Drefs) Bucholz. She was raised and educated in rural Max.
On September 12, 1942, she married Carl Jennings at Bismarck. They made their home on a farm east of Washburn. In addition to working with her husband on the farm, Adeline worked at various restaurants in Washburn. Adeline had a passion for cooking and baking. Throughout her life on the farm, she always welcomed drop-in guests into her home for a meal or coffee with a fresh baked pastry. Had she ever opened a restaurant of her own, it might have driven other local eateries out of business.
She was a member of the Washburn United Methodist Church where she served for many years with the U.M.W. Adeline also served as bailiff for the McLean County Courthouse for several years.
Adeline loved the outdoors and horses. She enjoyed camping and boating at Lake Sakakawea and annual trips to Glendive, Montana; Rapid City, South Dakota and in later years, Branson, Missouri. Adeline and her husband were instrumental in the construction of the Lewis and Clark Fort Mandan and participated in character reenactments.
Survivors include: one daughter, MarJo Craig, Fargo; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Denyce of Gravois Mills, MO; three grandchildren Susan Kinkle (Jon Burkhart), Devils Lake; Rachel ElShamy (Wesam), Manhattan, KS; Carl Craig, Moorhead, MN; two great-grandsons, Michael Kinkle, Fargo, and Joey Burkhart, Devils Lake; one brother, Jerry Bucholz; five step-siblings, Alvina Fueller, Luella Philbrick, Leland Grosz, Alvin Grosz, & Gary Grosz; foster children, Debbie Dutoit of South Carolina and Violet Walker of Grand Forks.
