Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 9, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 10, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bloomfield, with Rev. Tom Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Bloomfield, Nebraska.
Dorothea Bahr was born June 26, 1908, in Albertsdorf, Island of Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Gustav Heinrich and Catharina Juliane (Suchsdorf) Bahr. She, along with her parents and brother, immigrated to the United States in 1910, and settled on a farm in Knox County, Nebraska. She married John Lowin. Together they farmed north of Bloomfield, until 1935, when they moved to a farm south of Bloomfield. She used the name of Dorothy during her lifetime. John preceded her in death on November 21, 1978. Dorothy, her son and daughter-in-law and Dorothy's half-brother, Nico Suckstorf, all traveled back to their homeland on the Island of Fehmarn, Germany in 1981 for a family visit.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Audrey) Lowin of Cedar Falls, IA, and Jerome (Nadine) Lowin of Arvada, CO; four grandchildren; and one half-brother, Nico (Althea) Suckstorf of Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Herman, William and Gustav Bahr.
