Herman Bahr, 86, of Bloomfield, passed away October 24, 1996, at Bloomfield Good Samaritan Center, Bloomfield, Nebraska.

Funeral services were 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, at the Bloomfield Cemetery, Bloomfield, Nebraska. Rev. Tom Miller officiated.

Herman Bahr was born November 30, 1909, in Petersdorf, Fehmarn, Germany, the son of Gustav and Julianna (Sucksorf) Bahr. He was baptized at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Petersdorf, Fehmarn and confirmed at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Bloomfield. He attended Roseville school district #79 in Cedar County and later joined his father in farming northwest of Bloomfield. He continued to farm with his brother, William, after his father retired. He raised hogs, cattle, corn and oats. The brothers sold their farm in 1990, and retired to Bloomfield. Herman entered the Good Samaritan Center in 1991.

Surviving are one sister, Dorothy Lowin of Bloomfield; his half brother, Nick Suckstorf of Bloomfield; nephew, Kenneth Lowin of Cedar Falls, IA; one great-nephews, William H. Lowin; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gustav and William Lowin and one nephew, Jerome Lowin.

Notes: Hermann Bahr was born November 30, 1909 in Petersdorf, Fehmarn, an island off the northern coast of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

His parents were Gustav Heinrich and Catharina Juliane (Suchsdorf) Bahr. He, along with her parents and sister, came to the United States to Knox County, Nebraska in 1910.

He used the name of Herman during his lifetime. He never married.
