Funeral services will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 26, at the United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, with Rev. Pat Culligan officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Bloomfield, Nebraska.
Nico Suckstorf was born March 23, 1905, in Albertsdorf, Island of Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the son of Catharina Juliane Suckstorf. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Gustav Heinrich Bahr, who immigrated to the United States in 1910, and settled on a farm in Knox County, Nebraska. Nico followed his parents in 1912. He used the name Nick during his lifetime. He married Julia Soost in June, 1938. Together they farmed until they retired in 1962, and built a new home in Bloomfield. They had no children. Julia preceded him in death on September 19, 1978. He married Althea E. (Nelson) Anderson on November 3, 1990, in Bloomfield. They had no children.
Surviving are his wife, Althea of Bloomfield; two step-daughters; and two step-sons.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Gustav and Catharina Bahr, his first wife, one half-sister, Dorothea Lowin and three half-brothers, Herman, William and Gustav Bahr.
