According to the biographical sketch, Simpson M. Hagood was born in North Carolina but his parents moved to South Carolina in 1813. His father was "killed by the falling of a tree" when Simpson was about 15. His mother moved to Anderson District, SC to raise the family. Simpson married Elizabeth Garrison, daughter of Levi and Martha (Meaders) Garrison on 28 Jan 1834 in Pendleton, SC. They had 9 children all born in Anderson Dist. SC. They moved to Freemansville, Milton Co. (now Fulton Co.) GA sometime between 1860-1863. He was in Alpharetta, GA by 1880. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alfred Teasley.
