IN MEMORIAM

Unable longer to keep the heroic fight against the ravages of the disease which he had waged for so many weeks, J.D. Chitwood, better known as Dock Chitwood, passed before the cycle of the Grim Reaper last Saturday morning, September 13. The best medical aid and the most constant nursing could not prevail over the deadly germs of typhoid, and for the last three weeks life hung in the balance; the end came at 6 o'clock and the struggle ended.
Mr. Chitwood was 40 years, 1 month and 9 days old, having been born on August 4, 1873. He was married eleven yeasts ago to Miss Lizzie Eubanks, and to this union two children were burn, a girl now 10 and a boy of 4 being left fatherless. The wife, three sisters, two brothers and a father also survive him.
The funeral was conducted by Minco Lodge No 473, I.O.O.F., of which Mr. Chitwood was a faithful member, the ceremony occurring Sunday afternoon, in which the Tuttle lodge participated, the deceased's brother, Dawes Clintwood, being a member of the Tuttle body. The remains were interred in the Minco cemetery with the impressive rites of Odd fellowship.
Dock Chitwood lived a life above reproach, Faithful to every trust imposed in him, watchful for the welfare of his family at all times, he neglected his own health that he might continue to labor for their substance until too late. Peace be to his ashes

Suggested edit: Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Eubank 1st married John Dock Chitwood, and they had 3 children that lived. She had some twins that died. The 3 that lived, my grandmother, Ida Mildred Chitwood, a son, Irle Chitwood, and a daughter, Mary. Lizzie was the d/o John Harlan Eubank (without the S) and Alice Jackson-Howard from Barren County, Ky, and moved to Oklahoma around 1800.

After John's death, 'Lizzie' remarried perhaps a Wynn, (some say a Gidley), and lastly an Arthur.

Sarah Elizabeth Gidley in California. Please change.
