The eighth child born to David Daniel and Martha D. Bridgforth. Martha Mariah Bridgforth Hanserd was born May 16, 1831 in Giles County, Tennessee. She married (1) George Forster Phelps in 1852 in Giles County. He died on July 26, 1860 and is buried in the Elkton Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Giles County, Tennessee. They had four children, Mary Martha, David, Frank and Viola. Martha married (2) William Richard Hanserd on October 25, 1865 in Giles County Tennessee. He was born November 2, 1812 in Virginia and Died November 15, 1893 in Limestone County Alabama. They had one child Robert Bridgforth Hanserd (1866-1914). William Richard Hanserd, Sr. and his son Robert are buried in the new section of New Garden Cemetery. Martha Bridgforth Hanserd is buried in the Elkton/Harney/Camp/Miller Cemetery in Giles County, Tennessee.
Also buried in this same E/H/C/M Cemetery is her sister Elizabeth M. Bridgeforth Bowers (2/15/1837-1/02/1880).
