The first child of David Daniel Bridgforth and Mariah Dandridge Hobbs Bridgforth, James W. Bridgforth wa born on January 12, 1817 in Virginia and died on March 12 , 1896 in Limestone County , Alabama. He married (1) Caroline E. Daly, about 1836 , in Giles Co., Tennessee. She was born November 7, 1819 and died May 15, 1853, in Giles County, Tennessee. Her parents were William A. Daly and Lucy Abernathy. Caroline Daly is buried in the Daly Cemetery in Giles, County, Tennessee. Two of James and Caroline Daly's children are buried in the new section of New Garden Cemetery , Elkmont, Alabama. John "Jack" Bridgforth was born January 28th , 1839 and died August 25th , 1894. His obituary in THE ALABAMA COURIER states that he died on Tuesday August , 28th at the residence of his father, Col. William Bridgforth, near Mount Rozell and that he never married and had always lived with his father. Jack's sister Lucy "Lou" Bridgforth is also buried in the new section of New Garden Cemetery. She is buried by her husband, Edwin Lydell Estes, whom she married on February 21, 1867 in Giles Co., Tennessee.

James William married (2) Mary Ann Baugh on October 7, 1854 in Limestone County. She was the daughter of John Baugh and Martha Trotter. She was born on February 20, 1859 in Giles County , Tennessee and died February 20, 1859 in Giles, Co., Tennessee. Mary Ann Bridgforth is buried in Trotter Cemetery in Giles, Co., TN . James William married (3). Olivia Ann Elizabeth Smith Pettus on December 26, 1849. He died on June 26, 1854. Olivia Ann Elizabeth Smith was the daughter of Stanhope Smith and Mary Pettus. She was born October 3, 1833, and died August 13, 1887 in Limestone Co., AL. She and James William Bridgforth are buried in the Old Salem Cemetery in Limestone Co., AL.

I'm not sure if you want to change this but my husband and I stopped by this cemetery on the way home today. The cemetery is beautiful and the fence around the family graves is very nice. Upon looking at all the tombstones inside the last name is spelled Bridgforth like his parents and siblings. The civil war monument that was added later has an e but the original tombstones do not.
