Man struck by auto dies month after accident.
James S. Wolf, retired farmer, who was struck by an automobile on the Allentown pike, near Kirbyville, more than a month ago, died in the Reading Hospital, from the injuries received in the accident and an attack of pneumonia. He was aged 75 years, 3 months and 4 days, and resided with his son, Leon Wolfe on a farm near the sport where he was hit by the machine.
At the time of the accident, Mr. Wolf was walking along the State highway. A machine driven by Charles M. Bohanan, of this city, was traveling southward, when it is claimed, the driver was blinded by an approaching car, and Mr. Bohanan failed to see the aged man on the highway. The man was brought to the hospital for treatment and he was getting along nicely until his weakened condition, due to advanced age, made him an easy victim for pneumonia.
Coroner Rorke and County Detectives Hilzinger and Tully have investigated the case, and after going over the testimony of witnesses of the accident, Coroner Rorke will decide if he will hold an inquest.
Mr. Wolf retired from farming some years ago and resided with his children, spending some time each year at the different homes. It was while visiting the home of his son Leon, at Kirbyville, that the accident occurred.
Deceased is survived by the following children: Agnes, Shillington; Peter and Oscar, this city; Elenora, wife of Jacob Levan, Allentown; Lillie A., wife of Frank Angstadt, New Jerusalem; Harrison E., Topton; Ada, wife of Claude Haas, Kutztown; Harvey W., Shoemakersville; Leon, Kirbyville; Minnie, Lyons; Isaac, Kutztown; and Sheridan Kirbyville. One brother, Isaac, and a sister, Susan, also survive.
Funeral, Wednesday, July 30 at 1 p.m. from the home of his son, Leon Wolf, Kirbyville. Services and interment at Becker's (St. Peter's) Union Church. Undertaker William S. Fritz, of Kutztown, has charge.
