James Oatis Berry son of John Alpheus and Deborah Jane Berry was born May 16, 1872, near Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio. At the age of 10 his family moved to Putnam Co near Powersville, Putnam County, Mo. There he grew to manhood, in 1895 he moved to Kansas near Holton, after 6 years there in 1901 he moved to Oklahoma, living in different parts of the state.

-James Oatis Berry was born May 16, 1872, near Woodsfield, Ohio, and passed away March 6, 1961 at the age of 88, at Chickasha, Oklahoma.
-Mr Berry came to Oklahoma Territory in 1901. He was married to Alta T Greer, January 24, 1904, at Clio, Iowa and together they homesteaded a farm southwest of Vici. To this union was born five children, Conda J, who passed away in October 1915, Veda, Vera, Merlin and Margie Marie.
-In March 1919 Mr Berry moved with his family to Vici and in 1947 he and his wife moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma where he resided until his death. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Chickasha.
-He leaves his wife Alta, of the home, three daughters, Mrs Veda Eggleston, 1828 Arizona, Chickasha, Okla, Mrs Vera Craven, 3912 Pima Way, North Highlands, California, Margie Marie Chandler, 1128 SW 37th Street, Oklahoma City, Okla, one son, Merlin J Berry, 1014 S Weber, Colorado Springs, Colo; six grandchildren, Judy, C T and Stephen Chandler, James W and Linda Berry and Charles Craven; one sister, Mrs E M Salisbury of St Mary's, Kansas.

-Berry died Monday at his home, 1828 Arizona.
