Thursday, February 19, 1970

SCOTT - Grace Scott, a daughter of William A. and Sarepta Jane Umbenhower, was born in Pleasant Township, Lucas County, Iowa, April 30, 1891. Death came to her at the Chariton Manor about 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, 1970. She had been in poor health for ten years and was 78 years of age.

On April 25, 1909, she was married to Morris Scott at the Coal Glen Church in Pleasant Township. The couple lived in Benton Township, Lucas County for many years and at Millerton, where he operated a grocery store for 29 years. In 1958 they moved to Chariton where they have lived since.

Her survivors include her husband, Morris, three sisters: Mrs. Chalmer (Delia) Neal and Mrs. Etta Duckworth, both of Chariton and Mrs. Fern Gearhart of Des Moines.

Services were conducted by the Rev. R. Roland Ritter at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 1970 at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
