Mrs. Elva Yates Rites Saturday
Mrs. Elva Yates, 85, of Estherville died at 11 p.m. Wednesday [May 19, 1971] evening at Holy Family Hospital.

She was born Nov. 23, 1885, to George and Margaret Minor in Jasper County, Iowa. She received her education in the Green County school.

On Oct. 1, 1903, she was married to Arthur Yates at Carroll. They moved to Emmet County March 1, 1913.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and a member of WSCS and Rebecca Lodge.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. John (Neva) Higgins, Dolliver; Mrs. Oscar (Ruth) Lungren, Estherville; Mrs. D. C. (Edna) Webster, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Russell (Faye) Hostetter, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mrs. Emory (Alice) Prentice of Jackson, Minn.; two sons, Glen Yates of Ankeny and Arnold Yates of Estherville; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, one sister, Mrs. Milo Solon; and two brothers, Art Minor, Sundre, Canada, and Floyd Minor, Ellensburg, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1963, parents, four sisters, two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with the Rev. Richard Pearson and the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery.
