The Betts were early settlers of NY, founders of Betts Corners, now Lysander, Rensselaer County, New York. Mr. S. E. Clark is a Mayflower desc. from the Cushman line. He was an oil man and died in 1881, before he could see his 2 daugthers safely married and happy (Miss Harriett M. Louis Erwin and Harriett Beall both played golf and summered in Pinehurst for the season. They were entered in tournaments and enjoyed the events immensely. The Bealls had three children: Priscilla Beall who married Edwin Lewis Scofield, of the Stamford Scofields, Edward Clark Beall of Daphne AL, and Louis Erwin Beall, Jr who drowned in a boating accident.
