1856 emgigrated to America with his parents and 6 siblings to Benton, Penn Yan, Yates, NY and worked as a farm laborer and may have moved with his brother John to Hillsdale County in Michigan.

Just after he turned 17 years old he enlisted in the Civil War in the Union Army 16 Nov 1864 as a Private in Company A, 11th Michigan. Only served 3 months and 20 days and was discharged at the end of the war 06 March 1865

Lived in Edwardsburg, Cass Co, MI being employed by the Grand Trunk Rail Road.

George W. Boone, 84, a resident of Elkhart for more than 40 yrs, died at 5:50 Sunday afternoon at his home, 1724 DeCamp Avenue. In failing health four year, Mr. Boone was fatally stricken with apoplexy last Thursday. The funeral service will be held at the Charles Walley chapel, 126 South Second street, at 3 p.m. Tuesday and the burial will be in the Prairie street cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Walley chapel until the hour of the funeral.

Mr Boone was born Oct 17, 1847, in Bridgewater, England. He came to America at the age of 10 years with his parents, James and Louisa Boone, who settled at Hillsdale, Mich. For 11 years before overcome by ill healthy, four years ago, he was employed as a painter by the Elkhard Brass Manufacturing Co. He was twice married, his second wife being Lizzie Teed Boone, who survives him. There are four children by the former marriage-Mrs North Thursby of Bristol, Mrs Orrie Masten of Hones, Mich., Mrs William Walker of near South Bend and Charles Boone of Buchanan, Mich and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Walsh of Eaton Rapids, Mich., and Mrs Flora Simmons of Hillsdale.

George W. Boone, 84, died Sunday afternoon at his home in Elkhart following a stroke of apoplexy suffered last Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday at the Charles Walley mortuary. Burial will be made in the Prairie Street Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, four children, eight grandchildren and five step children.
