There are many spellings of Spencer's last name-Walsh, Welsh,& Walch. Spencer's last name was clearly Welch on his army records and early birth records, but later someone crossed out the Welch and wrote Welsh. We leave the name spelled Welch on the momorial as the family once spelled it. So goes family name changes!

After being discharge from service, Spencer live in South Jefferson, Hillsdale Co, MI about 5 years, there he met and married neighbor, Anna Boone on January 1, 1868 in Hillsdale Co., Michigan

For years, Anna was the oldest member of the Boone family to attended the annual Boone Reunion. She hosted the 23rd annual reunion at her home in in Eaton Rapids in 1935.

Anna died of "influenza" in Eaton Rapids and was 89y 3m 12d old.
