Died Nov. 10, 1863, of chronic diarrhea, at the 3rd Division 14th Army Corps Hospital.

Samuel Lippincott was born in Ohio in 1841 to Charles H. and Mary Ann Lippincott. Samuel ws the oldest child. He had five sisters (Elizabeth, one year younger, Deborah, two years younger, Esther, five years younger, Anna M., 8 years younger, Sarah, 16 years younger and a brother, Lewis that was 16 years younger. Samuel lived in Shelby County, Oramie. He had to face the premature death of his mother on August 15, 1858, at the age of 38. Samuel enlisted in the Civil War on 20 June 1861, at the age of 20. He served with Company F, 11th Infantry Regiment, Ohio. He died on the 10th of November 1863, of disease in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the age of 22.

11th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry - Three Years Service. This Regiment was organized at Camp Dennison, Ohio, from June 1861, to Sept. 3, 1862 to serve 3 years. The original members (except veterans) were mustered out in June, 1864, by reason of expiration on term of service, and the veterans and the recruits consolidated into a Battalion, and retained in service until June 11, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department. The official list of Battles in which the regiment bore an honorable part, is not yet published in orders, but the following list is submitted as the most accurate and complete that could be prepared after patient research into the records at our disposal;

The above was taken from page 320 of Volume II of a reference viewed by me in the National Archives, Washington, D.C. Information about the veteran - Private Samuel Lippincott - was on page 338. It indicated he was enrolled for 3 years service on June 20, 1861 and died of chronic diarrhea on November 10, 1863, at Chattanooga, TN.
