In 1910 she and her parents and brother and five sisters lived in Mahoning Township, Lawrence County, PA. Her father worked as a locomotive engineer and her brother as a brakeman in a stone quarry.

In 1930 she lived on West Broad Street in Columbus, OH. She was an inmate at the Ohio Institution for the Feeble Minded. Some of her fellow inmates were Frances Cohen, age 28, from England, 20 people from Ohio: Charles Fitzpatrick, age 22, Helen Murphy, age 24, Hazel Desede, age 35, three Christy children, probably siblings: Hazel, 17, Virgil, 14, and Eleanor, 8, Mary Brooks, age 17, Paul King, age 19, Estella Dingledine, Bertha Dittman, age 23, Mary C Coleman, age 24, Albert Winans, age 18, Ruth Donley, age 33, Fern Dixon, age 25, Earl Houser, age 16, Walter Davis, age 22, Eugene H. Secrest, Hazel Keefer, age 36, Bernice Snyder, age 23, and Lovella Householder, age 24. There were also 24-year-old twin sisters from Missouri, Beulah and Bernice Woods, and Nora Gilbert, age 20, from Kentucky.

In 1940 she still lived in the same place, but was called a patient rather than an inmate. The patients were listed alphabetically, so there seems less of a chance that she knew some of the people who were on the page with her.
